Many people may think eco-design is only environmentally friendly design.

Although it definitely encompasses this, eco-design can be much more broadly defined, considering that ecology is the relationship between living things and their environment, the study of those relationships and the balance or imbalance between them.

Bella Living's definition for eco-design, is design that positively impacts long-term outcomes for people, animals, and the environment.

Eco-design can include green design, ethical design, eco-friendly design, and sustainable design, it is also design that is socially and environmentally responsible. 
 

​As designers and as consumers we have the power and responsibility to positively impact our planet by embracing eco-design and making more socially responsible, sustainable and environmentally friendly selections.
